The organization to improve broadband access in eastern Ontario is receiving support from all members of parliament representing the region.
In a news release, the Eastern Ontario Regional Network says it’s pleased the MPs from across all party lines have signed letters of support to have the federal government help fund the proposed cell service improvements.
EORN is proposing a $213 million public-private partnership.
It says the incoming Ontario government has committed to its share – $71 million.
In two separate letters, the area MPs are urging the federal government to provide its $71 million share.
Hastings County Warden Rodney Cooney says he’s pleased with the “public display of support from our local Members of Parliament and those in the Conservative Party for our region.”
Also in the release, Chair of the Eastern Ontario Wardens Caucus Robin Jones says, “We are hopeful that the federal government will listen and fund this critical project.”
