Two months underway and Belleville’s mayor says the final Downtown Revitalization Phase 3b is proceeding as scheduled.
Construction crews started working on the final stretch of the $30 million Revitalization project on March 5.
This Phase 3b is the final phase of upgrades to the water, sewer and streets of the downtown. It includes the stretch of Front Street from Bridge Street to Dundas Street, McAnnany Street and Market Street at city hall.
Mayor Taso Christopher says the construction company is committed to accommodating vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the construction period.
Christopher says he wants people to know the parking lot at the river is still open.

This work will wrap up reconstruction of the downtown from the top of Front Street in the downtown to Dundas Street.
Belleville council approved free two hour parking on the part of Bridge Street East between Pinnacle and Front Streets and along Pinnacle Street between Bridge Street and Dundas Street East while the work is being carried out.
It’s hoped the move will ease the pain caused by the loss of 49 parking spots along Front Street and in the Market Square.
