Belleville residents will get a chance to discuss hydro, and a possible merger, involving the city’s electrical supplier.
Veridian Connections, which the City of Belleville has a 13 percent stake in, will be up for discussion during a public portion Monday afternoon.
Residents are invited to discuss the merger with Whitby Hydro.
Veridian President and CEO Michael Angemeer told city council the merger would mean Belleville’s profit share would go from 13 percent to 9 percent, but the increase in the number of customers to 165,000 would increase the profit to $21.9 million, for a similar 17 year period.
If approved by all partners, the new energy services company could go into effect in 2019.
Belleville Council meets at 4:00 pm, at Belleville City Hall
