Lawyers for a numbered company will be speaking to Belleville Council on Monday to clarify a request for rezoning of the former Nortel property.
During a planning meeting on the rezoning, some councillors disagreed with a plan to allow the growing of marijuana at the facility, but Gary Parker of Baldwin Law wants to clarify that the company would be growing pot only for research and development purposes, not for distribution.
Council will also hear a delegation from representatives of Veridian and Whitby Hydro, about their proposed merger and will also get an update on the Eastern Ontario Regional Network project.
Belleville Council will also be asked to approve a few projects at its meeting on Monday.
Among them, about $267,800 worth of roofing projects, with work to be done by Dafoe Roofing.
Those buildings include the Belleville Police Service Headquarters and fire buildings on Harmony Road and South Foster Avenue.
Councillors will also be asked to approve Belleville’s $235,000 share for installing traffic signals at Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and Harmony Road, with the City of Quinte West pitching in $292,000.
A staff report on some parking changes on streets around Belleville General Hospital will be presented, along with some others as well.
