As the Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan continues, another environmental challenge facing the area ecosystem has been identified as ready for status change.
BQRAP says the issue of beach closures has met all of the scientific criteria needed to now classify it as unimpaired.
The group assessed Centennial Park in Deseronto, Kingsford Mills on the Salmon River, Frankford Park on the Trent River and Centennial Park in Northport and all of those beaches are meeting or exceeding the criteria set regarding beach postings and contaminant sources.
A 30-day comment period will now begin, running April 3 to May 3, to make sure members of the public agree with the findings and the decision to make the status change.
