It’s no small accomplishment. The Belleville General Hospital Auxilliary has provided continuous volunteer service to patients, their families, and the staff at BGH for 80 years.
The eight decades of selfless dedication was recognized by the Quinte Health Care Board of Directors Tuesday afternoon.
Board Chair Stuart Wright said that the auxilliary helped and comforted anyone and everyone who worked at or used the hospital.
Vice Chair David MacKinnon singled out member Selma Bochnek, who previously had served as Chair of the Belleville General Hospital Board of Directors and with the Ontario Hospital Association, for her many contributions to health care in the area. Bochnek is a former city councillor.
