Dry and windy conditions led to several grass fires and the implementation of a burn ban throughout the Quinte region yesterday.
The Centre Hastings fire department dealt with an out of control blaze at 1309 Moira Road, while Marmora and Lake crews battled separate reported grass fires on 86 Lajoie Road and 36 Murphy Road.
The Lajoie Road fire spread from a field to the bottom part of a nearby barn shed used for storage.
Centre Hastings Fire Chief Bob Branscombe says a burn ban has been put in place for Centre Hastings, Stirling-Rawdon and Tweed until further notice.
During this time, you are being asked to not do outdoor burning of any kind due to dry conditions and very little precipitation on the horizon.
Mohawk Fire also fought a grass fire in the Lower Slash Road area on Saturday.
