Local realtors are locked and loaded and ready to help fill a proposed upscale condominium development in the heart of downtown Belleville.
CEO of construction project management company FairTradeWorks Jim Perkins described the six-storey building to be built on the former site of the Hotel Quinte to about 50 realtors Tuesday afternoon at the Empire Theatre.
The ground floor of the building would be set aside for retail/commercial development with the other five storeys holding 110 condos, ranging from studios to two-bedroom suites. Sixty of the units would be well appointed two-bedroom units.
Among the features would be a raised outdoor BBQ area with free wifi, a car wash, a dog washing station, and a meeting/party room.
Prices will range from $205,000 to $507,000. Condo fees would run from under $200 to $370 a month.
CEO Perkins says detailed site plans should be in the hands of City of Belleville planning staff very soon, and after city approval and as soon as phase 1, or about 70 units, are pre-sold, construction will begin. He believes shovels could be in the ground as early as summer.
A showroom featuring a lifelike facade and a finished two-bedroom condo unit are open to the public now and is at 360 Pinnacle Street at the back of the Royal LePage building.
Perkins says downtown Belleville and the Quinte region as a whole is a great location and will attract not only locals wanting to downsize but people looking to retire from the GTA area.
The senior population is a fast growing cohort and Perkins expects demand to be intense.
The public is invited to learn about The Pinnacle at an event Thursday evening at the Empire Theatre beginning at 7 o’clock.
Meanwhile, the company has renovated one heritage building in downtown Marmora as a professional building and is almost done with a seniors apartment building, both in the downtown core.
Other resort and commercial projects are planned near Marmora and on Crowe Lake.
FairTradeWorks has handled many projects, big and small, in British Columbia and has been operating in Ontario since 2014. The company has 26 employees. It has won several Better Business Bureau awards for its work in western Canada.
