The number of robberies in the City of Belleville was down considerably in the last quarter of 2017 when compared to the September to December period of 2016.
According to statistics from the Belleville Police Service there were just 3 robberies in the fourth quarter of last year, compared to 11 the year before.
Last year there was a 100% clearance rate, up from 45% in 2016.
Meanwhile, there were far fewer break and enters in Belleville in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the September through December period in 2016.
In the fourth quarter last year, there were 34 break and enters compared to 61 in 2016.
Last year the clearance rate for B&Es was 23.5% while in 2016 it was 12%.
Officers were busier investigating vehicle thefts in the fourth quarter of last year than they were during the same period in 2016.
In the last quarter of 2017, 21 vehicles were stolen in Belleville.
In the same period of 2016, just 13 were stolen.
And, the number of drug offenses was lower in the fourth quarter of last year.
City police officers dealt with 40 drug investigations in the September through December period last year, down from 57 in the same period of 2016.
Last year, there was a 100% clearance rate on the drug offenses.
In 2016 the clearance rate was 80%.
