The cost of construction for the Home for Good social housing in Belleville has taken another jump.
Last year, the price of the proposed 40-unit apartment building for social housing on Sidney Street in Belleville jumped by $1 million to $7.3 million. Officials have presented more costs, sending the price up by almost $400,000.

The report to the committee indicated that since December, staff had met with the project partners and Morden Engineering to review the project and determined “the changes would enhance the overall operation of the building and benefit staff, residents and partner agencies…”
The price increase is for nine additions, including three additional units to be accessible, security cameras, two rooms changed to crisis rooms, and additional storage area for scooters and e-bikes.
Hastings County Warden Rodney Cooney told Quinte News it has to meet requirements for the seven agencies, Addictions and Mental Health Services Hastings and Prince Edward, Southeast Local Health Integration Network, Pathways to Independence, Youth Habitation Quinte, John Howard Society, and Ministry of Community and Social Services.
The issue goes to Hastings County Council later this month.
