The emergency departments at hospitals in Belleville, Trenton, Bancroft and Picton have been overrun by people suffering from the flu or other respiratory illness lately.
The Ministry of Health has provided extra funding for extra beds and staff, but as Quinte Health Care’s Chief Nursing Officer Carol Smith Romeril (ROM ur il) explains it’s been a tough stretch.
From April to December of this year, the number of patients seen in the 4 emergency departments has increased by 3,600 from the same period in 2016.
