The Southeast Local Health Integration Network Board of Directors has supported an application by Quinte Hospice to get provincial funding to help with the cost of building a six-bed hospice on property donated by the City of Quinte West in Bayside.
The hospice would serve people living in and around Belleville and Quinte West.
Quinte Hospice is applying to the the provincial government for 1.2 million dollars, the maximum amount allowable for capital costs.
The total cost to build and get the hospice running is estimated at 2.3 million dollars.
Quinte Hospice continues a fundraising campaign in order to make the facility a reality by 2019.
