The next step can be taken in the process to build a six-bed residential hospice in Quinte West, now that Hospice Quinte has received operational funding support from the Southeast Local Health Integration Network.
Hospice Quinte announced Thursday, the LHIN will contribute about $105,000 per bed, per year, to offset operational costs when the new hospice is built, but the organization will still have to raise another $600,000 annually.
Executive Director Jennifer May-Anderson says the next step is to get approval for capital funding from the LHIN.
She adds that the rest of the capital cash will be earned through fundraising and the hospice will be located on land near Bayside Secondary School, donated by the City of Quinte West.
