There is interest in bringing a big marijuana processing facility to the Quinte region.
The company Neucrop Growers Canada Ltd. will approach Prince Edward County’s Committee of the Whole tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon asking for support as it considers setting up shop in Picton’s industrial park along MacDonald Drive.
The company is also considering a location in Belleville’s industrial park along College Street.
A location in Parry Sound is also on a short list.
Neucrop says it could build new or use an existing building. It would need 2 acres and a minimum of 15,000 square feet, expandable to 65,000 square feet.
Neucrop will not grow marijuana at the facility but make ointments, edibles and beverages. It would initially employ 12 people at good pay.
