UPDATE @ 2:30 p.m.: A 26-year-old Quinte West man, charged with hitting a pedestrian while driving drunk on Friday, has been released on $1,000 bail.
John James Koeble appeared at the Quinte Courthouse on Monday and was released into the care of his mother, with strict conditions.
Court heard witnesses reported Koeble’s vehicle was being driven eratically around 10:45 Friday night, westbound on the Dundas Street bridge and after crossing the bridge, the car hit a parked vehicle and a man nearby.
The victim suffered a broken leg and police determined Koeble’s blood alcohol level was about twice the legal limit.
Among the conditions of his release, Koeble has to live with his mother in Brighton, not consume alcohol, possess weapons, or drive.

His next court date is January 18th, as lawyers put together disclosure in the case.
A Quinte West man has been charged following a vehicle collision with a pedestrian on Friday night.
Around 10:45, Quinte West OPP attended the Dundas Street West area to investigate the incident.
Officers arrested the driver of the vehicle for having over 80mgs of alcohol in his blood.
Twenty-six-year-old Quinte West John James Koebel is charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, and exceeding 80 mgs of alcohol in a motor vehicle accident causing bodily harm.
He has a bail hearing today.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
