A Whitby man, charged with holding up the RBC Bank in downtown Belleville, after letting off a gunshot at Quinte Secondary School in March of last year, will go straight to trial in Toronto.
40 year-old Zak Bayfied was also charged with multiple offenses, related to bank robberies in Toronto, Cobourg, Burlington and Markham and had been making video appearances in Belleville court.
Now, the province’s Deputy Attorney General has chosen to proceed with a direct indictment, which means there will be no preliminary hearing and his trial will be handled by the Metro West Crown Attorney’s office in Toronto.
His next court date is July 28th.
