The much anticipated new shelter at Belleville’s downtown bus terminal was unveiled Friday.
The fully heated, lit and accessible Victorian style shelter with an extensive platform has been in the works for some time. The total project cost was $300,000.
City of Belleville Transit Manager Matt Coffey said the new shelter will benefit many people as they no longer have to wait outside in inclement weather.
He said it is a larger shelter that you would see in bigger cities adding they thought it would fit well with the terminal’s already existing platform.
