Today’s (Monday) regular council meeting won’t be the only time this week that Belleville’s mayor and councillors get together.
Wednesday evening, city council will host a public meeting on proposals to eliminate the current vacancy tax rebate on commercial and industrial properties.
The province now allows municipalities to eliminate the rebates, which range from 30% to 35% on vacant space, depending on whether the property is used for industrial or commercial purposes.
The public meeting will run from 6 till 8 at Belleville City Hall Wednesday evening.
Recently, a committee in Quinte West recommended that council keep the rebates in effect.
