After a year off due to preparations for the Trenton International Air Show last summer, more than 500 people are set to take part in the 30th annual CFB Trenton Surf ‘N Turf Relay Friday.
The 60 kilometre race involves various running, biking, kayaking and swimming stages and kicks off from Bakers Island at 8 Wing.
Co-Chair Captain Brent McIntyre tells Quinte News, the race will touch almost every corner of Quinte West throughout the day.
McIntyre adds, that with the race stretching over so much of the city, drivers should expect a few traffic changes through the day.
The event started as a military-only event, but now involves both military and civilian competitors and is organized by forces members at 8 Wing.
Some participants will compete in teams, splitting up various stages of the race, but McIntyre says at least 21 men and women will be taking on the entire 60 kilometre course on their own.
Members of the public are encouraged to line the route and cheer the competitors on through the day.
