While Eastern Ontario politicians await word on provincial and federal funding for a proposed update of telecommunications technology, the technical side of the group is continuing its work in another direction.
While waiting for funding approval, co-leader of the Eastern Ontario Network Hastings County CEO Jim Pine, says other work will continue, including talks with people working in the mobile broadband industry.
The project from Ottawa River to Durham region has a $300 million price tag.
Pine says during the last network round, municipalities paid $10 million toward the $170 million cost but this time it could be higher.
