Just four months into the Shoreline Casino Belleville’s life in the city, mental health services officials are seeing casino players seeking help with gambling addiction.
The casino format does include a Responsible Gambling Council which refers people to Addiction and Mental Health Services.
Addiction and Mental Health Services officials report a total of five clients who are concerned about their addiction with slot machines at the local casino.
Senior clinical service manager Mary Labine says they also expressed concern with other kinds of gambling as well.
Labine says they mention the easy access to the gambling.

She says she’s concerned that some people are not seeking help for gambling addictions as they would if they broke their arm.
Addiction and Mental Health services offices are located in Belleville, Trenton, Picton, Madoc and Bancroft.
