A lockdown at a Kingston area corrections facility has continued into its second day.
Inmates at Collins Bay Institution were locked down at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, so staff could conduct a complete search of the facility.
There’s no word on any specific incident that led to the lockdown, but corrections workers are looking for any types of contraband in order to ensure the safety of all inmates, staff and visitors.
Assistant Warden Wayne Buller says regular visits have been suspended, so if you have already planned one, you should contact the institution before going there.
Those visits and other regular operating procedures will return to normal once staff deem it’s safe to do so.
