With just one week left to register, the community is invited to step out, try something new, and make a meaningful impact at the inaugural Roll for Impact Boccia Classic, happening Sunday, May 3 at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
In support of the Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre (QCTC), this first-of-its-kind local event introduces boccia, a fun, inclusive sport that anyone can play.
Sign up for a new experience, a fun day out, and a way to give back. Teams of two will compete in a relaxed, welcoming environment and no experience is required.
“Events like the Roll for Impact Boccia Classic are a wonderful way to bring our community together while raising awareness about the supports available through the Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre,” says Heather Menaldo, Director of QCTC. “We’re excited to welcome everyone, share what we do, and create a space where all feel included.”
Often compared to curling or lawn bowling, boccia is designed for all abilities. Players can throw, roll, or use assistive devices to move the ball, making it one of the most accessible sports in the world. It has been part of the Paralympic Games since 1984 and is now played in more than 50 countries.
The event is presented in partnership with the Belleville General Hospital Foundation, with funds raised supporting programs and services for children, youth, and families across the region.
Community support has been strong, with local sponsors including Kinpsych, Motion, CBI Health, Big Words Little People, Make Way for Me, Stride Academy, Kelly Home Health, and Lock 7 Threads helping bring the event to life.
Registration is open for a limited time, and spots are filling quickly. Community members are encouraged to gather a teammate and sign up before it’s too late.
