A crash on Highway 401 in Quinte West Thursday night has led to charges against two transport truck drivers.
AT 7:30 p.m. Napanee and Quinte West OPP responded to a report of a collision involving two transports on 401 westbound near the On Route.
Police were notified that one of the drivers had fled the scene on foot. An OPP Canine Unit was called to search for the driver however he returned to the scene approximately four hours later.
Investigation revealed that one transport rear-ended the other.
As a result of the investigation 46-year-old Todd Smith of Burlington has been charged with careless driving and 43 year-old Prabhdeep Sandhu of Brampton has been charged with failing to remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. A passenger in one of the transports was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The highway was closed until midnight for cleanup.
