There is once again new senior management at HJ McFarland Home.
Tuesday night, Commissioner of Corporate Services Susan Turnbull who oversees administration at the municipally run nursing home, announced Kim Mauro has been hired as the Director of Care and Pamela Nisbet is the Administrator.
Since the fall of 2014, McFarland Home has been the subject of internal and Ministry investigations relating to care, training and the quality of management oversight.
Most recently Saint Elizabeth had been providing interim senior administration at McFarland Home since the departure of the home’s two senior managers, Lori Kimmett and Beth Piper in 2014. The County then opted out of its contract with Saint Elizabeth in June 2016 following a 2015 investigation by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care that resulted in 20 written notifications, three of which were considered significant enough that the Ministry issued four compliance orders. That coupled with $600,000 in combined staff salaries the County chose to again seek new management.
Fast forward, Mayor Robert Quaiff said he is pleased by the news.
A more detailed biography of Mauro and Nisbet is expected later today.
