The police are now getting involved in the stand-off between Mohawk Liquidation and the Tyendinaga Territory Mohawk Band Council.
Andrew Clifford Maracle, also known as Miracle, bought Territory land from a third party who didn’t own it. Now the Band Council has decided to enforce the court judgement confirming its ownership. Maracle has not left the property. The police chief has asked Council to get legal advice on just how that judgement should be enfrorced. And today (yesterday) Council instructed its lawyers to obtain directions from Belleville Superior Court as soon as possible….the court date is set for February 26. Meanwhile it’s been business as usual for Mohawk Liquidation even as the Sunday deadline to vacate the site passed.
