Prince Edward County could be looking for a lot of money if it tries to recover some or all of its costs from two Ontario Municipal Board hearings.
The board denied the appeal by the Electors of Prince Edward of county council’s decision not to reduce the number of municipal wards from ten to six until after a referendum is held in this year’s election. A report to council tomorrow night indicates the county had 112-thousand dollars in legal fees for the Septmber and November hearings, and it paid another six-thousand dollars for an expert witness.
The county has reserved the right to seek costs from The Electors, and council will get advice from its lawyer in closed session before tomorrow’s council meeting.
