A group of businesspeople and residents in the Bloomfield area want to create a cultural center in an old run down building in the hamlet.
It’s hoped the group’s volunteers will be allowed to fix up the old Don Baxter building, so it can be used for various arts and culture programs, particularly for youth in the community.
Meanwhile, the Baxter building’s owners, the County of Prince Edward, have been considering trying to sell it.
Prince Edward County Council will not do anything with it until it sees a staff report on the ramifications of allowing a community group to lease the building, and fix it up.
