Hastings-Prince Edward Medical Officer of Health and former Ontario Chief Medical Officer Doctor Richard Schabas says the media and provincial and federal public health leaders are to blame for blowing the H-1-N-1 pandemic out of proportion.
Doctor Schabas…in an article in the Toronto Star…called the latest pandemic a false alarm and says it didn’t live up to its billing.
He says the media should be wise to the projected second wave of swine flu… due this fall… which he calls unlikely.
Schabas says H-1-N-1 is not a true pandemic virus… as regular seasonal flu kills two to four thousand Canadians per year… while the first wave of swine flu has killed under 50.
