Quinte West Councillor Jim Harrison is concerned about the bill coming to the city and the Firefighters Association from the arbitrator who settled the fulltimers salaries..
Harrison says he doesn’t know the arbitrator’s cost, but he expects it will be large, after 26 months of waiting..
He says both Quinte West and the association will be responsible for one half of the arbitrator’s bill, and he says both sides should have tried harder to reach an agreement over two years ago.
Municipal staff are studying the order to determine the impact on the city, but Protective Services Committee Chair Paul Kyte says he expects the final implications should be minimal.
