Statistics Canada says the unemployment rate in Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox and Addington, Frontenac and Renfrew counties was 8.4 per cent last month, down from 9.1 in May.
Just over 212-thousand people in the five counties were working in June, up by almost two-thousand from the month before.
Last month’s unemployment rate of 8.4 per cent is still well above the 5.5 per cent in June of last year. The Ontario rate was 9.4 per cent, unchanged from May.
