Quinte West Mayor John Williams likes the idea of a link through his city and Belleville to the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail.
About 240 cyclists left Trenton this morning, and had a stopover at Zwicks Park in Belleville, the midway point on their 700-kilometre tour along Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence River to the Quebec border.
Williams says he will speak to Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis about a possible connection to the trail in both cities.
He says an agreement would have to be reached with some private landowners and C-F-B Trenton for the trail to be extended east through Quinte West..
