Quinte Conservation is making some progress in being able to start repairs at the dam on Lingham Lake, northeast of Madoc.
Workers haven’t been able to replace the slots that hold the logs in the control section of the dam because a valve is stuck open, and water can’t be removed.
Quinte Conservation General Manager Terry Murphy says a temporary two-metre high cofferdam, which could cost as much as 250-thousand dollars, was installed further upstream this week, allowing the work to go ahead, starting next week.
The original cost of the dam repairs was 100-thousand dollars, but that could increase because of the anticipated work on the valve.
