It began with some shouting, but after tensions eased, there were some positive discussions in Picton.
Deseronto couple Cindy and Dale Welsh organized last night’s meeting to discuss the effect of native protests on non-natives, for the Elk’s Lodge, but it was moved to Delhi Park. Cindy says most of the 50 people who appeared were allied with either the Belleville-based Tenant Action Group, or Tyendinaga Territory Protesters.
The crowd shouted down one of the speakers, and then the meeting broke up into smaller groups, discussing their differences, and some even shook hands as they agreed to further discussions.
