250-positions at the Sears call centre in Belleville are being cut this September. Those positions deal primarily with catalogue orders. The jobs are going to the Philipines. Sears spokesman Vincent Power told our newsroom today Sears is out-sourcing the work to a Canadian company that has a call centre in the Philipines. The move is effective September 17-th. Power says the out-source company has expertise in call centre technology and sears does not. He says the move does not affect the remainder of the call centre positions, and Sears continues to employ 17-hundred people in Belleville.
