A Warkworth man is charged after a violent incident in which blood was smeared on a police officer.
Northumberland O-P-P responded to a family disturbance on Pine Court last night, but stopped on the way after spotting a vehicle from the home in a ditch.
The officer found the driver a short time later, and he was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The suspect made threats against the officer and his family while being taken to the detachment, and smeared his blood on an officer’s vest and caused property damage after they arrived.
Thirty-four-year-old Jason Blackwell is charged with two counts of criminal harassment, assaulting a peace officer, mischief, driving while disqualified and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and is beinig held for a bail hearing today.
