The slump in new home construction in Quinte West continued into May.
Chief Building Official Ron Wardaugh says permits for only 14 houses were issued last month, compared to 20 in May, 2008.
City Hall has given the green light to the construction of 39 homes so far in 2009, down from 67 after the first five months of last year.
Wardaugh says there has been 29.2-million dollars in building activity in Quinte West so far this year, seven-million less than at this time in 2008.
