Belleville city council has decided to come up with a small amount of money to avoid paying back a big chunk of funding to the Canada-Ontario grant program.
The work at Whitney trail in the city’s west end was never completed to the satisfaction of those handing out the grant.
The city could spend 28-thousand to complete it or lose about 200-thousand dollars.
Mayor Neil Ellis says the city did the right thing in approving the work which had been agreed to by the former parks director.
Council approved the 28-thousand dolalrs worth of work… a dust-stone path and temporary chain link fencing along the property lines of Whitney Place.
