The Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus, which includes members from the Quinte region, is welcoming a 71 million dollar commitment from the provincial government for a continued effort to improve cellular data services in this part of Ontario.
With the province committed to funding some of the cost of the huge project, it’s hoped the federal government, local governments and the private sector will also provide funding to improve cell service,.
The Eastern Ontario Regional Network has proposed a 213 million dollar public-private partnership to improve the reach and quality of cell service.
It’s estimated the proposal would create 3,000 full-time equivalent jobs over 10 years and spur stronger rural economies in the region.
