Brighton council has responded to concerns from apple orchard owners about the Open Air Fires Bylaw.
The farmers were worried the bylaw didn’t allow them to burn diseased vegetation at orchards in the urban part of the municipality.
Fire Chief Dale Wales says Council voted last night to amend the rules so the orchard owners can dispose of unwanted materials.
However, they have to get approval from the Chief before burning, and follow all the specifics in the bylaw.
