The City of Belleville has announced the introduction of a new e-billing system for tax and utility bills.
The city says the new system will offer residents the option to receive and view property tax and utility bills online through a secure paperless billing system.
Residents can receive email notifications when new bills are available, view current and past bills online, see a detailed breakdown of invoice charges, access account information at any time, download and save copies of their bills, view payment history and reduce paper waste.
“This is a new option for tax bills and an updated version of e-billing for utility bills,” said Brandon Ferguson, Director of Finance and Treasurer, in the release.
“The new e-billing is a convenient, secure and environmentally friendly way for residents to manage their accounts.”
For residents that currently receive utility bills through the previous e-billing system, the city says they will need to log in to their my.belleville.ca account and update their preferences to continue receiving electronic documents.
If they do not update their preferences, they will begin receiving paper bills instead.
In time, the system will also have the added feature of paying for tax and utility bills online through the same platform, increasing ease of use for residents.
More information about the system and to sign up for e-billing can be found at the City of Belleville’s website.
