Northumberland OPP have announced a donation from United Way Northumberland, which has provided $800 in grocery store gift cards to support the Mental Health Engagement And Response Team (MHEART) program.
The gift cards will be distributed by MHEART members to individuals and families experiencing hardship whom they encounter while responding to mental health and community wellness-related calls throughout Northumberland County.
According to a release, OPP say MHEART is a collaborative initiative that brings together police and healthcare professionals to provide support, resources, and connections to community services for individuals facing mental health challenges and other vulnerable circumstances.
“Partnerships like this make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve,” said Inspector Mike Cavanagh, Detachment Commander of the Northumberland OPP, in the release.
