Belleville City Council approved a recommendation to accept the lowest tender from Devries Site Services as part of the redevelopment of the old fairgrounds in Belleville’s west end on Monday.
As part of the recommendation, to accommodate the funding, the 2026 Capital Budget would be amended to include an additional $1.2 million.
This funding would come from reallocating $700,000 from the Belleville Agricultural Society’s relocation budget and $500,000 from the Housing Accelerator Fund – Initiative II.
The tender from the Quinte West-based firm totalled almost $3,694,000 plus HST.
The project would build two access roads and install water/sewer infrastructure on the Bridge Street West land, paving the way for future high-density residential development, a future fire station, and potential parkland areas.
The curling club would remain as is.
According to city staff’s report, construction would begin this fall and would be completed by fall of 2027.
Council approved the recommendation.
