Obtaining or replacing identification can be challenging. Without valid ID, community members may face barriers to accessing important programs, services and opportunities.
To help residents navigate this process, Northumberland County, in partnership with local community and government agencies, is continuing its successful Identification and Wellness Clinics initiative, with two clinics planned for this fall.
The clinics provide support in obtaining identification and connect residents to resources that help them access housing, health care, employment and other essential services.
The next clinic will take place in the Municipality of Brighton on Wednesday, September 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Trinity-St. Andrews United Church (56 Prince Edward Street, Brighton).
“For many people, obtaining identification or replacing lost or expired ID can mean making multiple trips to different locations and navigating several processes,” says County Community and Social Services Client Services Manager Jennifer Glover. “These clinics bring participating services together in one location, helping reduce barriers and making it easier for community members to get the identification and supports they need.”
Community members will have access to a range of participating organizations and services, including:
- Northumberland County Community & Social Services: Application assistance for Ontario Works and other supports.
- Northumberland Paramedics Community Paramedicine Program: Medical referrals and program details.
- Service Ontario: Assistance with health cards, address changes, and Ontario Photo Card applications.
- Northumberland Help & Legal Centre: Assistance with program information, birth certificate applications, and the fee waiver program.
- Fleming College Academic Upgrading: Flexible skills on-demand and academic upgrading programs.
- MP Phillip Lawrence Constituency Office: Assistance with federal programs, including Permanent Resident Cards, passports, and federal benefit programs.
- Ontario Health Team of Northumberland: Information on connecting to local primary care (physician and nurse practitioner) resources.
The clinics are open to all community members. Pre-registration is encouraged to help manage attendance and wait times and can be completed through the county’s online form at Northumberland.ca/IDClinic. Walk-in participants are also welcome.
Community members who are unable to attend the clinic can access services at a second Identification and Wellness Clinic on October 28, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Northumberland County headquarters in Cobourg.
