President Trump and Ontario Premier Doug Ford traded barbs over what to call a lake straddling Canada and the US.
Ford on ABC This Week: “It was like something out of Saturday Night Live when he signed a document saying “Change to Lake America.” No one’s going to call it Lake America. It’s been Lake Ontario for hundreds of years.”
Donald Trump doubling down, reposted a meme showing Canada geese with his hair firing rifles as they protect Lake America.
Ford says Canadians love the American people and are able to differentiate between the great American people and the president.
The kerfuffle began over tariffs, with Trump slapping a 50% tax on $20 billion worth of Canadian imports.
Canada then fired back with the same tax on American goods.
On Friday, Trump signed an order renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America”, while on Saturday, Ford erected a giant billboard reading “Lake Ontario: Now and Always.”
