The eighth annual Val MacDonald Memorial Golf for Hospice Tournament is set to hit the fairways at the Picton Golf & Country Club on September 18.
Organized by Hospice Prince Edward, the popular annual fundraiser honours the legacy of former Executive Director Val MacDonald, who originally started the event.
While golfing registration for the tournament sold out in a single day, the public can still take part in the event’s online silent auction running from September 11 to September 21.
Community members are also invited to order a sign along the course’s “Memory Lane” to honour lost loved ones.
Board member Kim Haegg notes that government funding only covers 60 to 70 per cent of costs, making these community fundraisers critical for keeping residential and grief services free of charge.
