A Campbellford man has been charge regarding a traffic complaint of a vehicle being driven dangerously.
Northumberland OPP received the complaint just after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday in the area of Front Street South and River Street in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
Additional callers reported to OPP that the same vehicle was involved in a number of other incidents throughout Campbellford, including property damage and verbal altercations.
Just after 1:00 p.m., a vehicle matching the description, was involved in a non-injury collision with another vehicle in the parking lot of a community event on County Road 38 before leaving the scene.
Officers later located the vehicle, however, police say that the driver failed to stop on multiple occasions before being taken into custody at a commercial property on Canrobert Street at approximately 3:25 p.m.
Forty-nine-year-old David O’Kane of Campbellford has been charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – two counts
- Mischief – destroys or damages property
- Failure to stop after accident
- Resist peace officer
- Flight from peace officer – four counts
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
