The Township of Stirling-Rawdon received a report at its council meeting on Tuesday regarding steps to take to dissolve the Stirling-Rawdon Business Improvement Area (BIA).
A report to council raised concerns about the current BIA model.
This included concerns regarding a lack of member participation and engagement, as well as a low budget, and inability to increase revenues or enter partnerships.
Staff noted that a letter was issued to property owners within the BIA at the end of May 2026 that provided an opportunity for the owners to confirm their membership status, nominate an individual to vote on behalf of their corporation, and/or provide a list of tenancy in an effort to encourage dialogue.
Of the 74 letters mailed, only two responses were received.
Mayor Bob Mullin tells Quinte News that the BIA did reach out to council over the weekend to discuss the next steps moving forward.
Mullin says council did agree to the meeting with the BIA.
Council voted to receive the report, with no action taken thus far.
