Quinte region country music trio The Wilkinsons are being inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.
The trio, consisting of Steve Wilkinson and his children Amanda and Tyler, entered the country music scene in the late 90s. Since then they’ve won a long list of awards including a Juno award and nearly a dozen CCMAs.
In an interview with Quinte News, Steve Wilkinson said that he was grateful to achieve what he has with his family.
“We made every mile of this journey together,” said Steve. “We we celebrated the highs and the disappointments, and I think having family with you just reminds you what’s really important when the lights go down.”
Amanda Wilkinson said that the nomination came as a surprise.
“We’re just beyond blessed, you know, to have done it,” said Amanda. “We would have done it no matter what because we were so in love with it and and having the opportunity to do it together, but we’re very grateful that people have just seen our journey and said, ‘You know what? You guys have done a good job.”
Tyler Wilkinson said that he felt like time moved incredibly fast for him since they started.
“It’s crazy that sitting around a campfire or singing songs around a you know a kitchen table or around the house, has taken us to places we never thought that we would go, and it’s incredibly it’s incredibly humbling,” said Tyler.
The Wilkinsons will be formally inducted to the hall in a ceremony during Country Music Week 20-26, scheduled for September 16–19th in Saskatoon.
