Police have arrested the male responsible for a violent sexual assault in Whitby.
On July 13, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of Central West Division responded to a sexual assault at Iroquois Beach Park in the area of Gordon Street and Waterfront Trail. Police were contacted after receiving reports of a female who was sexually assaulted.
The victim was leaving Iroquois Beach Park, walking along the sand path that runs north-west toward Gordon Street when she was assaulted by an unknown male. The suspect forced the victim off the path into a tree line where he made threats and sexually assaulted her.
Following an extensive investigation by members of the Special Victims Unit and tips from the public, the suspect was identified. On July 16, 2026, investigators with the Special Victims Unit, with the assistance of the Offender Management Unit, located the suspect in Whitby and took him into custody without incident.
At the time of this incident, the accused was bound by house arrest curfew conditions.
Dwayne Horace Daley, age 33 from Ajax is charged with: sexual assault, uttering threats, robbery, and fail to comply with release order x4.
He was held for a bail hearing.
